Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Engineer for RF and Optical System Integration & Verification in the Emerging Systems unit. You will own end-to-end I&V strategy for the TeraWave payloads, terminals, and ground segments, guiding cross-functional teams to verify link performance from lab to on-orbit operations.

The role requires deep hands-on RF/optical test expertise, HITL emulation experience, and strong Python/MATLAB/Simulink skills. Onsite in Seattle area or Cupertino with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of RF and/or optical communications system integration, test, and verification for complex hardware/software systems.
• Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end I&V lifecycles: requirements/ConOps → design and simulation → lab/chamber verification → HITL emulation → field or on-orbit validation.
• Deep hands-on expertise with RF test equipment and with anechoic chamber/OTA test methodologies.
• Proficiency developing test automation and analysis software in Python and MATLAB/Simulink, with working knowledge of C/C++ and Linux-based environments.

Responsibilities

• Own integration and verification architecture and test automation framework for RF and optical system areas (payload, terminals, ground stations, links).
• Lead cross-functional integration campaigns across hardware, silicon, RF/antenna, optical, modem/DSP, flight software, SDN, networking, and systems engineering teams.
• Direct lab- and site-level bring-up, including RF line-up, optical bench alignment, clock/timing distribution, power, thermal, and networking test infrastructure.
