Job summary

Baxter International Inc. is seeking a Principal (Senior) Software Engineer to lead the architecture and evolution of the audio and video communication infrastructure powering Connected Care products.

You will own mission-critical systems enabling real-time communication for clinicians, patients, and caregivers, leveraging VoIP, SIP, and WebRTC to deliver ultra-low latency, scalable platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing real-time voice and video systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with SIP and related telecom protocols.
• Production-level experience with VoIP platforms in production.
• Experience with Kamailio or FreeSWITCH.
• Backend services with .NET or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Troubleshoot complex network, signaling, and media delivery challenges.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve core audio/video infrastructure for Connected Care.
• Design and operate highly available SIP routing platforms at scale.
• Scale and optimize media servers, SBCs, and signaling environments.
• Build low-latency call routing solutions for seamless communication.
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate voice/video into apps.
• Investigate and resolve real-time communication challenges (latency, packet loss).
• Drive tech strategy and engineering best practices for voice/video infra.
• Mentor engineers and act as telecom/RTC SME.
