Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Principal Rail Vehicle Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Oakland, California.

Accountabilities:
* Ensure the definition of the Vehicle System Architecture, by theidentification of the interfaces among the main on-boardtechnological sub-systems.
* Ensure that the Vehicle design is oriented to maintenanceeffectiveness and to use of expert diagnostic systems
* Execute the Verification activities of vehicle interface documents,according to the V&V Plan
* Ensure the assessment of the Rolling Stocks Design in order toachieve full integration with other sub-systems and components
* Ensure the monitoring of Vehicle production and testing processin order to control key factors affecting interfaces and systemperformances.
* Participate to on site tests relevant to the vehicle Integration (e.g.advice to issue resolution)
* Ensure the proposal of improvements and updates of the designstandards about Rolling Stock interfaces in accordance withprocess and technology improvements
* With regards to Rolling Stocks, contribute to the functionalrequirements fulfilment in Design and Testing phase and to theresolution of the interfaces among Rolling Stock and the othersub-systems, by providing detailed description of the mainintegrated functions as well as main operating scenarios.
* KPI trends of the projects about Requirements Management

Required Skills:
* At least 10 years' experience in onboard equipment installation and testing.
* Knowledge in electrical wiring, functional scheme review and mechanical installation.

* Ability to manage a local technical team, manage the final client, and subcontractor.

* Ability to work in a complex project and team-work skills.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering orInformation Technology or Equivalent Technical Background

Languages:
English-Proficient

In accordance with the DOT's FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi's substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.

The salary range for this position is $143,000- $214,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate's experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
