Job summary

Medtronic plc in Minnesota is seeking a Principal R&D Engineer to advance transcatheter heart valve technologies. You will analyze CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy data, build anatomical reconstructions, and develop predictive models to support product development and preclinical studies.

This role emphasizes collaboration across engineering, clinical, and research teams. You will lead imaging and modeling efforts, mentor teammates, and contribute to regulatory documentation while working

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or math and 7+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 5+ years OR PhD with 3+ years.
Experience analyzing cardiovascular imaging data using CT, ultrasound, MRI, or fluoroscopy.
Experience with image segmentation, anatomical reconstruction, 3D modeling, CAD software, or quantitative image analysis.

Responsibilities

Analyze clinical and preclinical imaging datasets to support product development.
Develop anatomical reconstructions, segmentation workflows, and measurement methodologies.
Create and maintain image-processing workflows using Python and MATLAB.
Develop predictive models and virtual patient assessments to evaluate anatomy-device interaction.
Collaborate with modeling, design, testing, and clinical teams to support research.
Generate technical documentation and supporting evidence for engineering activities.
