Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) seeks a Principal Protection & Controls Engineer to elevate FACTS and HVDC technologies within our Substation Division in North America.

You will lead advanced system design, develop equipment solutions, oversee testing, and collaborate with global teams to drive innovative energy solutions. The role emphasizes design leadership, cross-functional coordination, and strategic customer engagement, with on-site operations in Warrendale, PA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Power Electronics Engineering required.
• 10+ years of FACTS or HVDC system engineering experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of power electronics, substation equipment, harmonic filtering, and protection/control systems.
• Experience influencing trade organization standards and collaborating with global teams.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and power system tools; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design studies for FACTS and HVDC systems ensuring innovative, standards-aligned solutions.
• Develop diagrams and equipment specifications for advanced power electronic systems.
• Provide technical consulting on protection and control systems and operation methods for FACTS/HVDC.
• Coordinate designs from concept through factory tests and real-time digital simulator testing.
• Troubleshoot field issues and guide field engineers and service personnel to resolution.
• Identify cost-saving measures for power electronics equipment and system designs.
