Principal Protection and Control Engineer

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Principal Protection and Control Engineer to join our Power Delivery & Renewable team. This senior position involves technical leadership in protection and control engineering for utility-scale projects, working closely with various engineering disciplines and clients across North America. The role includes project management, technical design, and client engagement, with travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities include:

1. Managing and growing the Protection and Control team, resource planning, and quality reviews.
2. Supporting project development from conceptual design through construction.
3. Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to develop complete engineering packages.
4. Acting as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, and Technical Lead to support business growth.
5. Mentoring junior staff and ensuring quality assurance.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in protection schemes, relay and control engineering, and related standards.
• Experience within Power Delivery Protection & Relay Control consultancy businesses.
• PE License.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as SKM, ASPEN, ETAP, CAPE, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
