PURPOSE
Serves as a Principal IT Project Manager for the nation’s largest lumber and buildering material provider for residential construction. Work in an autonomous, remote environment on IT projects in support of myriad internal clients across business and IT functions. Join a team of project managers that deliver value and help BFS outperform today, transform tomorrow, and make home ownership a reality for all Americans.
Follows PMO processes and policies, directs project team, and works with other departmental leaders and resources to deliver work. Manages and oversees all aspects of the development and implementation of large-sized and above initiatives. Takes projects from original concept through final implementation by defining project scope and objectives, and developing detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
Leads teams to deliver project(s) and programs that span across one or more business units with authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis. Manages issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Contributes to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery. Verifies that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Scope of role:
- Program: Typically leads large, highly complex programs consisting of several projects.
- Project: May lead large highly complex, multi-platform projects.
- Demonstrates expertise in program and project management by setting the pace and tone for what good looks like, along with mentoring junior project managers.
The primary focus of each role can be different depending on the role but may include some combination of each of the responsibilities outlined below. Team members should work with leadership to define the "composition" of their specific role to drive impact and generate outcomes. Career progression does not require demonstration of all accountabilities below.
Delivery And Execution
- Leads teams to deliver scope of work that typically spans across one or more business units
- Redefines and informs plans in response to changing business/ market information
Planning And Alignment
- Develops roadmaps and gains alignment on objectives
- Provides insights on anticipated challenges and potential for conflict
- Provides advice for objective alignment across multiple teams and other stakeholders
Status Updates And Progress
- Aligns implementation efforts across multiple ongoing initiatives to achieve organization-wide goals
- Guides others on risk management decisions, actions and consequences
- Ensures work/scope delivery is in conformance with company methodologies and standards
Collaboration
- Serves as a liaison between internal clients and other stakeholders to ensure delivery of work on time, within budget, and to specification
- Has regular contact among peers within the firm and occasionally externally, (as required)
- Provides advice on the technological implications of business trends, issues, operating environment changes and company strategy
Change Management
- Provides inputs on change approach, strategy and plans across functions
- Provides guidance to teams on adoption/ rollout plans

Minimum Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Master's degree from an accredited college/university.
- 10+ years relevant work experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Project Management Professional” (PMP) certificate preferred

In addition to the base wage listed, this position is also eligible to earn an annual bonus subject to changes in plan design and documents and in accordance with applicable law. Eligibility and the amount of the bonus varies based on overall company success, thresholds met and other terms and conditions of the Company’s active bonus policy for the respective year.
