Job description

PURPOSE

Serves as a Principal IT Project Manager for the nation’s largest lumber and building materials provider for residential construction. Works in an autonomous, remote environment on IT projects supporting internal clients across business and IT functions. Follows PMO processes and policies, directs project teams, and collaborates with departmental leaders to deliver projects. Manages all aspects of large initiatives from concept to implementation, defining scope, developing work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports.

Leads teams to deliver projects spanning multiple business units with authority to manage day-to-day operations. Manages issues, risks, and change requests to ensure successful, on-time delivery. Contributes to process improvements in project delivery, ensuring quality, within time and budget constraints, to realize business benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Scope of role:

  • Leads large, complex programs with multiple projects.
  • May lead multi-platform, complex projects.
  • Sets standards for project management and mentors junior managers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery and Execution: Leads teams to deliver scope across business units, adjusting plans as needed.
  • Planning and Alignment: Develops roadmaps, aligns objectives, and manages challenges.
  • Status Updates and Progress: Coordinates initiatives, manages risks, and ensures scope and quality.
  • Collaboration: Acts as liaison with stakeholders, providing technological insights and managing expectations.
  • Change Management: Guides change strategies and adoption plans.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP certification preferred.
COMPETENCIES

Includes problem evaluation, technical communication, change management, customer focus, business acumen, agility, bias for action, and leadership skills, among others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
  • Mix of office and outside work, with weather variations.
  • Must lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional travel required.
