Job summary

American Water seeks a Principal, Project Delivery Engineer to lead delivery of multiple large capital investment projects from inception to completion, guiding a team as needed. The role reports to senior engineering leadership and focuses on production, networks and water resource systems.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Environmental or Civil preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage budgets and schedules for multiple large and complex Capital Investment Projects and programs of varying scope.
• Drive delivery efficiency by monitoring delivery metrics (unit costs, target costs vs. actual) and pursue more effective delivery and procurement approaches.
• Deliver Capital Projects in accordance with CIM policies to meet asset needs.
• Ensure Asset Owner satisfaction and coordinate with Operations to meet project delivery needs.
• Ensure compliance with established regulatory criteria, specifications and standards.
• Coordinate land acquisition, easements, rights of way, permits and other approvals for projects and programs.
• Support company-wide performance goals and Corporate Engineering initiatives.
