Job description

Who We Are

Pulumi is realizing the vision of cloud engineering: building tools and services that enable every developer to program the cloud using the tools and practices they already know. We lead with an open source platform that embraces real programming languages, tools, and techniques, and offers an innovative SaaS product that helps teams collaborate. Cloud native leaders like Snowflake and CockroachDB as well as innovators like Mercedes-Benz R&D North America use Pulumi to make cloud infrastructure their competitive advantage.

Pulumi helps developers and infrastructure engineers tap into the vast world of cloud services–from AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud to Datadog, GitHub, Auth0, Rancher, and more–and create production-grade, repeatable infrastructure.

Pulumi is headquartered in Seattle, WA. This role can be in Seattle or remote.

About the Role and Team

Pulumi is seeking a deeply technical and user-obsessed Product Manager to own the roadmap for Pulumi ESC (Environment Secrets and Config), a fast-growing product that helps teams manage configuration and secrets in a secure, structured, and scalable way. ESC supports a broad range of change management and security use cases across cloud, SaaS, and platform engineering teams.

You’ll work closely with the ESC engineering team, leadership, and customers ranging from individual developers to large enterprises. You’ll collaborate across design, engineering, marketing, and customer success to ensure that the product not only meets real-world needs but also pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in secrets and configuration management.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in technical domains like secrets management, cloud platforms, developer tooling, and operational workflows—and who is motivated to bring clarity, velocity, and customer insight to a product with big ambitions.

You Will
  • Define and evolve the product strategy for Pulumi ESC in partnership with leadership and engineering, balancing investments across secrets management and change management capabilities.
  • Lead roadmap planning and prioritization grounded in real customer needs, technical insight, and long-term vision.
  • Conduct excellent, unbiased customer research and synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights to guide product direction.
  • Collaborate with engineering to deliver high-impact features on a steady cadence, while ensuring the product is secure, reliable, and polished.
  • Partner with design, customer success, sales, and marketing to drive adoption and ensure successful rollouts of new features.
  • Work across Pulumi teams to ensure ESC integrates cleanly with the broader Pulumi Cloud platform and supports key developer and operator workflows.
  • Define and measure success criteria, creating tight feedback loops that inform future planning.
You Have
  • 6+ years of experience in product management, engineering, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong technical acumen, especially in developer tools, security, infrastructure, or cloud platforms.
  • A proven ability to connect customer insight, product execution, and business strategy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to clarify complex problem spaces.
  • A bias toward action and a pragmatic approach to delivering value quickly and iteratively.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and design teams to ship high-quality software.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in secrets management (PKI, encryption, KMS), configuration systems, or developer security.
  • Familiarity with platform engineering, infrastructure-as-code workflows, or policy-based tooling.
  • Experience building products that support change control or structured rollout processes.
  • Comfort working in or with open source communities.
  • A track record of guiding complex products toward widespread adoption.

Compensation

  • Base Salary Hiring Range: $180,500 to $227,850
  • All full time employee offers at Pulumi include base salary, bonus or variable, equity and benefits.
