Join to apply for the Principal Product Designer - Prototyping Focus - Remote Eastern or Central Time zones role at The Hustle

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Principal Product Designer to join our Growth team and lead design for a critical 0-to-1 initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of HubSpot by taking a nascent idea from concept to reality. You will define user experience, drive product vision, and collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to build innovative solutions for an important segment of our customer base.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Design for a 0-1 Initiative: Drive the end-to-end design process for a new product experience, from initial concept to launch and beyond.
  • Collaborate across product lines and initiatives to achieve results: This is a “glue” role where you’ll be a driving force to delivering value.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Create interactive prototypes using tools like Figma to effectively communicate design concepts and test user interactions.
  • User Research & Validation: Conduct user research, synthesize findings, and translate insights into actionable design decisions.
  • Strategic Vision: Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define the product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals.
  • Design System Contribution: Contribute to and evolve HubSpot’s design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across new products.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a culture of design excellence.
  • Navigate Ambiguity: Effectively work within a 0-1 environment, defining processes, operating systems, and delivering results in the face of uncertainty.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience and impact in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your craft work. You’ve worked in ambiguous environments and thrive when you can bring clarity via your designs.
  • Experience designing for AI technologies and design paradigms.
  • Experience and a passion for building high-fidelity prototypes and interaction design.
  • Proven ability to lead design for 0-1 initiatives or early-stage products.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and practices.
  • Strong understanding of user research methodologies and the ability to translate research into design decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex design concepts and rationale.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced ambiguous environment.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Framer, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Familiarity with front-end development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to facilitate collaboration with engineers.
  • Fluency in applying modern web and mobile design patterns to designs.
  • Must be located in the Eastern or Central Time Zone of the United States.

One more thing you should know…

We also know that many UX folks come from backgrounds with different experiences that might not seem “standard”—and that’s okay! We really value people who bring unique perspectives and add new knowledge to our team.

You might not feel like you “check all the boxes” as you read this job post, but we hope you’ll apply anyway because we’ll take great care in working with you.
