Job summary

Prolaio in Chicago is seeking a Principal Product Designer to own end-to-end design from discovery to production-ready interfaces, partnering with Product & Engineering and aligning with clinicians and patients.

You will drive long-term vision, lead workshops, translate user needs into artifacts, create high-fidelity mocks, and regularly update leadership on progress; a foundational hire at a growth stage.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product or UX/UI design experience, including 3+ years in a senior or principal-level role.
• Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end of complex product design from vision through execution.
• Hands-on experience designing for regulated industries, preferably medical devices or health IT.
• Strong writing and speaking skills; able to document design rationale and specs clearly.
• Collaborates with product management and engineering teams throughout the design process.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term product vision and design strategy for multiple products.
• Lead workshops with Product and Engineering to define features and align stakeholders.
• Translate user needs from clinical, regulatory, and legal teams into design artifacts.
• Create high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes for research and handoff.
• Provide regular updates on design progress and represent the design perspective to non-technical audiences.
