Job summary

BetterUp is seeking a Principal Product Designer to join our Design team and shape the future of human transformation at scale. You’ll own domain-level craft, strategy, and systems thinking across core product experiences, reporting to the VP of Product Design.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Research to define roadmaps, build scalable design systems, mentor senior designers, and influence executive stakeholders with clear, confident design leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience in consumer or B2B SaaS.
• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft, systems thinking, and end-to-end design.
• Proven track record leading complex, multi-year design initiatives with measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Architect design vision for core product experiences and multi-surface journeys.
• Raise design quality and craft standards across the product.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Research to shape roadmaps.
• Lead ambiguous design challenges from 0→1 and 1→n.
• Build and maintain scalable design systems and patterns.
• Mentor senior designers.
• Influence VP-level and executive stakeholders with clarity.
• Represent design in cross-functional planning.
