Job Description:

Principal Process Engineer – Wastewater Systems - Los Angeles, CA

OPPORTUNITY :

The Wastewater Principal Process Engineer provides technical leadership and project management for process engineering in capital projects and engineering services for wastewater treatment facilities. This role is based in our Pasadena office with a hybrid remote option in the Los Angeles area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work effectively on water and wastewater engineering capital project teams and cross-functional teams across the organization.
2. Provide process engineering services for projects mainly in Southern California, with potential travel to other parts of California.
3. Plan and execute projects, including approach, resource needs, options analysis, process and equipment design, documentation, and system ownership through project phases: plan, design, procure, construct, and commission.
4. Apply expertise in complex capital projects involving conventional wastewater treatment, membrane bioreactors (MBR), reverse osmosis desalination, UV, ozone, and other advanced water and wastewater treatment processes.
5. Communicate effectively with presentations and updates to senior management and broader forums.
6. Contribute to project success through technical leadership, collaboration, and prioritization based on business value.
7. Travel may be required to meet business needs.

The candidate will also provide design expertise for conventional and advanced wastewater treatment systems, including membrane, biosolids, odor control, pumping, and other systems.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. B.S. in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field with 7+ years in water and wastewater industry, involving process design, performance analysis, or engineering services.
2. Experience with municipal wastewater systems is essential.
3. PE registration is desirable but not required.
4. Strong communication skills, leadership potential, and familiarity with industry practices and regulations.
5. Solid knowledge of process technology.
