Job summary

Qualus seeks a Principal Engineer - Power Systems to support the Resource Integration Advisory group, focusing on interconnection feasibility studies for new generation, storage, demand and transmission projects.

You will lead studies, optimize project locations, prepare interconnection applications with power flow, dynamic, and short-circuit models, and coordinate with host transmission operators throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in the power industry.
• Experience with EMT Modeling using PSCAD for protection, control interaction, or IBR-focused studies.
• Intimate knowledge of the PSSE and/or PSLF power systems analysis tools and their models/utilities.
• Knowledge of transmission systems in Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT and WECC.
• Extensive experience with power system studies.
• Experience with resource interconnection studies in Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT and WECC.

Responsibilities

• Perform Interconnection feasibility studies for new generation, storage, demand and transmission projects
• Optimize the size and location of new generation, storage, demand and transmission projects
• Prepare interconnection applications with development of power flow, dynamic and short circuit models
• Guide generation, storage, demand and transmission interconnection applications through the full study process
• Interface with the host transmission operator throughout the interconnection study process
• Perform general power system studies.
