Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Principal/Sr. Principal Power Design Engineer in Rolling Meadows, IL to lead full life-cycle power electronics development for EW, IRCM, and imaging platforms. The role covers high-efficiency switch-mode power supplies, COTS interfaces, and regulatory compliance with MIL-STD and TEMPEST.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in power electronics design or 3+ years with a master's in a related field.
• Switch Mode Power Supply design experience from schematic capture to test and integration.
• Hands-on prototyping and debugging of complex power systems across various topologies.
• Ability to translate system performance specs into hardware requirements, design, and test specs.
• Proven ability to lead projects with 2+ team members.
• Familiarity with revision control and review systems like DOORS, ClearCase and ClearQuest.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design power conversion architectures to support RF/EW, IRCM, and imaging systems.
• Collaborate with system, sub-system, and hardware engineers across the life cycle.
• Verify designs through spice simulations, lab verification, and environmental qualification.
