Motion Recruitment Partners LLC is seeking a Principal Power Electronics Engineer in the Greater Boston area to lead hardware design from concept to production. You will own power electronics, PWM amplifiers, and PCB-level work while collaborating across embedded software, controls, and hardware development.

The role offers a hands-on environment in a small team, with opportunities to influence designs end-to-end, mentor engineers, and drive products into production.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of PCB-level electrical design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics and converter topology.
  • Experience designing PWM amplifiers and power supplies.
  • Experience across PCB design flow: specs, schematic capture, DFM/DFT, layout.
  • Embedded programming with microprocessors and/or FPGAs.
  • Experience with LTSpice or similar circuit simulation tools.
  • Hands-on lab and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, and power analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Own projects from concept through production in power electronics.
  • Design power supplies, PWM amplifiers, and related hardware.
  • Integrate with microprocessors, FPGAs, and embedded software.
  • Prototype, test, and troubleshoot hardware across the lifecycle.
  • Collaborate in a small, hands-on design team.

Job description

A growing and innovative engineering company in the Greater Boston area is looking for a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative design team. This is a full-time opportunity focused on advanced electrical hardware, power electronics, embedded systems, and PCB-level design. You’ll work on products from initial concept through production, giving you significant ownership and exposure across the entire engineering lifecycle.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on Electrical Engineer who wants more than a narrowly defined role. You’ll have the chance to own projects, design power supplies and PWM amplifiers, work with microprocessors and FPGAs, build and troubleshoot prototypes, and see your designs move from the lab into production. Because the team is small, your technical input will have a direct impact, and you’ll gain broad experience across power electronics, controls, embedded programming, PCB design, simulation, and hardware development.

Required Skills & Experience
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred
