Job summary

Expedia Group is hiring a hands-on Principal Software Development Engineer to lead the design, implementation and operational excellence of our cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities. You will shape the foundational platform powering customer-facing services across brands, driving velocity, reliability, and cost efficiency.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product, security and operations, and own end-to-end roadmap execution from Kubernetes runtimes to CI/CD and IaC tooling.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hand-on software engineering with distributed cloud services.
• Strong experience building and running AWS platforms (EKS, ECS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, ELB/ALB).
• Deep Kubernetes experience at scale and containerization.
• Experience with IaC and automation tooling.
• Proven production code contribution and platform automation.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tooling and developer workflows.
• Mentoring engineers and leading cross-team initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy, roadmap and standards for cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities.
• Lead migration and platform adoption efforts and drive end-to-end roadmap execution.
• Contribute code and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation/Helm) and review designs.
• Design scalable, secure infrastructure patterns for microservices and data stores.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
• Drive SRE and observability practices: SLIs/SLOs, monitoring and incident response.
• Lead capacity planning and performance tuning for high-scale workloads.
• Own AWS cost optimization and tagging/controls across teams.
• Enforce platform standards, security controls and environment tagging.
• Mentor senior engineers and collaborate with product, security and operations.
