We’re looking for a Principal Platform Engineer with deep Python expertise to lead the development of internal tools and infrastructure that empower our engineering teams. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building elegant developer experiences, automating workflows, and improving engineering velocity across the organization.

You’ll be at the intersection of DevOps, developer experience, and internal tooling , designing and implementing scalable solutions that enhance CI/CD pipelines, improve security automation, and streamline workflows for our dev teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain developer-facing internal tools , with a focus on automation, usability, and scalability.
  • Create a standardized, secure, and scalable CI/CD framework across teams, using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Build integrations for security automation , including vulnerability testing and policy enforcement within pipelines.
  • Lead the design of platform tooling to enhance developer productivity—think smart CLI tools, automated config generators, internal dashboards, etc.
  • Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure robust, compliant, and auditable tooling.
  • Drive infrastructure efficiency, supporting both on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Terraform).
  • Coach and mentor engineers on best practices, tooling usage, and DevOps principles.
  • Document systems, processes, and tooling to keep everything transparent and easy to use.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with a focus on Python and building developer-centric tools.
  • Proven success building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows at scale.
  • Strong experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins , or similar CI/CD platforms.
  • Deep understanding of security best practices for developer workflows and infrastructure.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud-native tools (especially AWS).
  • Solid skills with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and leading by example.
  • Passion for developer experience and streamlining engineering workflows.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with other languages (Go, C/C++).
  • Background in managing hybrid (cloud + on-prem) environments.
  • Familiarity with metrics/monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog).

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Sandisk's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Sandisk's Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
