SoCalGas in Los Angeles is seeking a skilled CAD/Design Engineer to develop advanced models, 3D piping layouts, and drawings. The role focuses on constructability, regulatory compliance, and project efficiency in a hybrid onsite/remote work setting.

You will lead design reviews, mentor junior drafters, and ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into documentation while delivering clear client-ready visuals.

Qualifications

• Design Engineering: devising a system, component, or process to meet desired needs.
• Engineering Drawing/Blueprint Interpretation: reading detailed drawings and requirements.
• Technical Drawing: detailed diagrams for construction and fabrication.
• CAD: use of computers to aid design and drafting.
• 2D/3D Modeling: creating 2D and 3D drawings for spaces and parts.
• Regulatory Compliance: adhering to laws, regulations, and specs.
• Prototyping: building early samples for testing concepts.
• Quality Management: ensuring consistent quality through planning and control.
• Requirements Management: documenting, tracing, prioritizing requirements, and change control.
• Documentation & Records Management: creating and maintaining recorded information.

Primary Purpose
Delivers advanced models and detailed documentation that ensure constructability, regulatory compliance, and project efficiency.

Leads the development and review of 3D models, piping layouts, and orthographic drawings, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry codes. Provides technical guidance, project leadership, and resolution of complex design issues. Requires expertise in AutoCAD Plant 3D, piping design, construction practices, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

SoCalGas offers a competitive total rewards package that goes beyond base salary. This position is eligible for an annual performance-based incentive (bonus) as well as other merit-based recognition. Pay Range $92,000.00 - $146,000.00 / year
