About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation development of new drug products, including solid, liquid, and semi-solid dosage forms.
• Design and execute pre-formulation studies, including physicochemical characterization of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
• Develop and optimize formulations for various routes of administration (oral, parenteral, topical).
• Conduct solubility enhancement, stability, and compatibility studies.
• Oversee the scale-up and technology transfer of formulations from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for formulation characterization and quality control.
• Stay current with scientific literature, industry trends, and regulatory guidelines related to formulation development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analytical development, process development, and regulatory affairs.
• Mentor junior scientists and provide scientific leadership.
• Prepare and review technical reports, development protocols, and regulatory submission documents.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, with a significant portion in a lead or principal scientist role.
• Extensive knowledge of drug delivery systems, excipients, and dosage form design.
• Proven experience in developing various dosage forms (tablets, capsules, injectables, creams, etc.).
• Strong understanding of physical chemistry, materials science, and analytical techniques relevant to formulation.
• Expertise in regulatory requirements for drug product development (e.g., ICH guidelines).
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
• Experience with novel drug delivery technologies (e.g., nanoparticles, liposomes) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and design of experiments (DoE).
