Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Perception Lead to direct computer vision and sensor fusion for autonomous navigation and mission awareness in national security space systems. You will shape the perception architecture, guide algorithm development, and ensure reliable sensing in complex environments on orbit and in ground support roles.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in computer vision, sensor fusion, or perception for autonomous systems.
• Technical leadership guiding perception architecture and algorithm strategy.
• Strong C++ and/or Python for perception development.
• Hands-on sensor fusion with multi-sensor data (camera, LiDAR, RADAR, IMU).
• Experience with object detection, tracking, and classification algorithms (DL preferred).
• Familiar with real-time/embedded software constraints.
• Excellent problem solving and communication; able to influence technical direction.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and integration of perception algorithms for autonomous navigation and situational awareness.
• Architect and implement vision and sensor fusion pipelines from multiple onboard sensors.
• Define strategy and roadmaps for perception subsystems aligned with vehicle autonomy goals.
• Drive perception algorithms for detection, tracking, scene understanding in dynamic environments.
• Enforce best practices for perception software development, testing, and V&V.
• Collaborate with GN&C, avionics, and systems engineering to integrate perception into flight systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and communicate findings to leadership and stakeholders.
• Stay current with state-of-the-art CV and ML techniques relevant to mission needs.
