Job summary

NVIDIA in Santa Clara seeks a Principal PCBA Engineer to lead PCBA technology development, DOE programs at contract manufacturers across Asia, and drive product improvements with a focus on MTM and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead PCBA technology development and DOE at CM locations across Asia.
  • Develop PCBA technologies, interconnects, and materials for new products, performance, and cost reductions.
  • Own PCBA technology and material roadmaps aligned to product needs.
  • Engage with PCBA CM base to ensure capability and readiness and qualify CMs for new techs.
  • Collaborate with CMs to define, procure and implement equipment for new tech.
  • Contribute to Manufacturing Operations, NPI, DFx and FMEA practices.
  • Fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese preferred.
  • Travel up to 40% domestically and internationally in Asia.

As a seasoned professional with a strong background in material Surface Mount Technology (SMT), materials science, and engineering, you will provide expert guidance and support to our engineering team and Contract Manufacturers (CM).**What you’ll be doing:*** Lead research, development and implementation of Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Technology Development and complex Design of Experiments (DOE) at Contract Manufacturers (CM) located across Asia.* Lead research and development of new PCBA technologies, interconnect technologies, and materials required for new products, product performance improvements, and cost reductions, ahead of engineering demand.* Own the development of PCBA technology and material roadmaps based on engineering requirements and next-generation product needs.* Lead engagement with the PCBA CM base to ensure capability and readiness to meet roadmap requirements and qualify CMs for new technologies and materials.* Work with CMs to define, procure and implement equipment to support new technology requirements.* Experienced with Manufacturing Operations, New Product Introductions (NPI), Design for Manufacturability and Reliability (DFx) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) .* Ability to speak fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese preferred.* Domestic and international travel up to 40% in Asia is required.**What we need to see:*** BS or MS in Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience, with 15+ years of experience in PCBA and materials.* OEM system-level PCBA experience is highly desirable.* Extensive expertise across PCBA technologies with a strong background in R&D materials and assembly processes.* Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with hardware engineering teams, and to build strong, trusted cross-functional relationships.* Self-starter who can operate with minimal supervision.* High level of motivation and creative problem-solving skills.With competitive salaries and a generous benefits package, we are widely considered to be technology industry's best employers.
