Principal Network Engineer

Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

  1. Leads project priorities, turning points, and outcomes.
  2. Applies deep knowledge of site reliability, software engineering, programming languages, tooling, frameworks, infrastructure, and systems for each task.
  3. Leads designs of software components, systems, and features to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of LSEG's services.
  4. Leads sustainable incident response and production improvements for LSEG.
  5. Provides mentorship and advice to team members on availability, performance, automation, and automated responses for services.
  6. Mentors and trains team members on design techniques, coding standards, and fosters innovation and collaboration.
  7. Writes and reviews optimized code for LSEG products and solutions, suggesting improvements.
  8. Partners with architects to decompose solutions for technology systems and products.
  9. Acts as a domain point of contact, demonstrating significant expertise and developing knowledge of related domains.
  10. Builds and applies domain knowledge related to workflows, data pipelines, policies, configurations, and constraints.
  11. Supports critical business processes ensuring high-quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  2. Significant experience in software development in one or more programming languages.

Position Summary

As the High-Skills Network Technical Lead, your main responsibility will be to ensure ongoing support and reliability of all components within the LSEG ecosystem, including platforms, networks, applications, and services. You will provide 4th-line support to the Network Products and Services functions, focusing on creating and maintaining automation to improve reliability and availability.

Role Responsibilities

You will design, build, and maintain systems, software, and applications across domains, making independent technical decisions, analyzing data, translating business requirements, and ensuring standards compliance. You will also coordinate capacity and network upgrades, lead deployments, and support continuous improvement through documentation and monitoring.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an IT-related field.
  • Experience in architecture or engineering roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of routing, switching protocols, and certifications like CCIE preferred.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and technologies such as LAN, WAN, MPLS, VPN, BGP, OSPF.
  • Knowledge of multicast, low-latency technologies, SDN, Cisco ACI, VxLAN, cloud environments, network security, load balancing, TCP/IP, and multicast.
  • Proficiency in Python and Ansible.
  • Strong communication skills in English and client management abilities.
