Job summary

OCH Technologies, LLC seeks a Principal Network Engineer to lead enterprise network design and implementation for FAA-related environments across multiple sites and data centers. You will architect, deploy, secure, and maintain resilient networks, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with security and application teams.

The role requires 15+ years in systems engineering with 5+ years in leadership, strong Cisco/VMware skills, and proficiency with Linux, scripting, and documentation; travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, engineering, or related field.
• Fifteen+ years in systems engineering with five+ years in a senior or lead role.
• Experience with Cisco networking technologies (routing, switching, firewalls).
• Proven ability to lead network architecture design and optimization.
• Hands-on experience managing multi-site, enterprise environments.
• Experience with Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with VMware virtualization platforms.
• Experience with web/proxy services (Nginx, socat).
• Experience with network monitoring/analysis tools (Riverbed, ManageEngine, Wireshark, Netshark).
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Experience creating technical documentation and system diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority and lead architect for enterprise network infrastructure across multiple sites and data center environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable network architectures.
• Oversee operations and performance of environments, ensuring uptime, redundancy, and resilience.
• Lead network modernization, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage and support core networking technologies including routing, switching, load balancing, and network security.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues.
• Oversee and optimize performance using monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, standards, and SOPs.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.
• Support federal compliance standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, FAA guidelines where applicable).
• Participate in strategic planning, capacity planning, and technology road mapping.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical issues.
• Support configuration management and IT logistics activities.
• Assist with systems testing and maintenance.
• Occasional travel to government facilities is required.
