Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Redondo Beach, CA, is seeking a Principal MLI Design Engineer/Senior Principal MLI Design Engineer (Level 3/4) to support the Thermal Insulated Products (TIP) section. This role offers exposure to spacecraft integration, test operations, and flight installations.

Located in Redondo Beach, California. Responsibilities include defining MLI requirements, creating 3D models in CATIA V5/3DX, coordinating fabrication, and supporting launch activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 5+ years of experience; 3 years with Master’s degree.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing abilities.
• Active SCI clearance at time of application.
• Willingness to work extended hours, alternate shifts, weekends, and travel.

Responsibilities

• Interface with multiple disciplines to define MLI requirements.
• Use CAD tools (CATIA) to create 3D models and installation drawings.
• Plan fabrication of thermal insulation products to meet program schedules.
• Coordinate, plan and lead MLI installations from concept to flight level.
• Provide support during spacecraft launch activities.
• Represent the thermal products organization as the primary technical contact.
• Develop written installation procedures.
