Job summary

Roblox Corporation is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Platform Engineer to own Roblox's ML platform end-to-end, delivering APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and UIs for internal developers. You will bootstrap and maintain core platform components, define strategy with SLOs, and design templates to speed production.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross-team architecture, and stay at the forefront of ML infrastructure trends while partnering across orgs to optimize performance, safety, and cost.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience and system design experience to build a scalable ML platform.
• Ship product with strong developer experience and customer focus.
• Experience with API design (gRPC/REST), SDKs, CLIs, and user-friendly UIs.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/Data Science or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Own platform as a product and define requirements, ship APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and UIs for Roblox ML.
• Bootstrap and maintain core ML Platform components: Serving Layer, Model Registry, Pipeline Orchestrator, Training/Inference control planes.
• Set technical strategy with clear SLOs for latency, availability and cost.
• Design developer experiences with templates, golden paths, defaults, and clear docs.
• Instrument the platform to measure adoption, friction, reliability and cost.
• Partner across ML Engineering, Data Science, Infra/SRE, Security and Finance to optimize performance, safety and spend.
• Propose and implement new tooling to accelerate production for MLEs across the lifecycle.
• Stay updated on ML infrastructure trends and adopt leading technologies.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and drive cross-team architectural decisions.
