Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Principal ML Engineer for Matchmaking to own the ML strategy, models, and optimization objectives across global datacenters. You will design and deploy candidate-server retrieval, ranking, and assignment algorithms while balancing user experience, developer outcomes, and system efficiency.

You will lead other engineers, shape the data and serving pipelines, and drive offline and online experiments to continuously improve matchmaking quality and latency.

Qualifications

• 8+ years delivering large-scale ML systems for ranking or optimization.
• Experience defining objective functions and deploying optimization algorithms.
• Educational background in CS; advanced degrees a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the matchmaking ML strategy and technical direction.
• Build and productionize candidate-server retrieval, ranking, and assignment.
• Lead engineers, mentor, and foster engineering excellence.
