Job summary

Tomorrow.io seeks a Principal Microwave Instrument Systems Engineer to lead the architecture and delivery of space-based microwave payloads for our satellite constellation. You will translate sensing objectives into instrument-level requirements, manage radiometric performance, and drive calibration strategies across multi-disciplinary teams.

With 10-15+ years in complex microwave space systems, you’ll influence architectures and verification plans, mitigate risks, and ensure mission-ready

Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years of experience developing complex microwave space-based sensing systems.
  • Expertise in RF system design including low-noise amplifiers, frequency conversion, filtering, and digitization.
  • Experience modeling radiometric performance including noise temperature, sensitivity, and calibration accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of antenna systems, beam patterns, polarization, and scan geometries.
  • Experience leading assembly, integration, and test of MW hardware systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture definition and execution of microwave payloads across the full product lifecycle.
  • Translate sensing objectives into instrument-level requirements and verification strategies.
  • Own radiometric performance modeling and error budgets.
  • Guide calibration strategies to meet atmospheric sensing objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver mission-ready payloads.
