Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, Platform Systems Modernization operating unit seeks a Principal or Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Lake Charles, LA facility. The role focuses on SMA heavy maintenance, modifications, and support for airborne ISR platforms, with responsibilities spanning design, analysis, integration, testing, and airworthiness certification.

Qualifications

• Level 3: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related STEM with 5 years of experience
• Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 8 years experience or Master’s with 6 years or PhD with 4 years
• Experience with classical static strength hand analysis
• Experience with substantiation of aircraft structural repairs
• Experience in aircraft structural and mechanical systems and repairs

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of aircraft structural design/analysis and standards (military, space, aerospace)
• Familiar with aircraft maintenance and modification operations
• Provide liaison support and develop detailed structural analyses for MRB/ASIP and fleet management
• Knowledge of ADs, SBs, Large Transport Aircraft Structural Design Criteria and repairs
• Provide technical guidance to liaison engineers on integration and repairs
