Job summary

TYG is seeking a Principal Forensic Mechanical Engineer to lead and manage a team of forensic engineers supporting clients across the United States. You will serve as the primary expert for mechanical investigations, overseeing complex cases and guiding the team through challenging assignments.

You will spearhead forensic investigations, offer expert consultation, and provide expert witness testimony, with a focus on mechanical system failures in industrial, commercial, and residential settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Active Professional Engineering (PE) license; multi-state licensing preferred.
• 8–10 years evaluating mechanical failures in industrial/commercial settings.
• Experience leading forensic teams and projects.
• Proven expert witness testimony is a strong asset.

Our client is a well-established, growing, multi-disciplinary forensic consulting firm, that are seeking a Principal Forensic Mechanical Engineer to lead and manage a team of skilled forensic engineers, supporting clients across the US. In this role, you will serve as the primary expert for all forensic mechanical investigations, overseeing complex cases and guiding the team through challenging assignments. Your role will involve spearheading forensic investigations, offering expert consultation, and providing expert witness testimony.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and Oversee Investigations: Manage and direct forensic investigations into the cause and origin of mechanical system failures, damages, and defects across a range of industrial, commercial, and residential sites.
• Analyze Failures: Provide expert analysis of mechanical failures, assess construction quality, and review design and maintenance procedures. Offer comprehensive recommendations for repair or replacement where necessary.
• Team Leadership: Head a multidisciplinary team on large and complex forensic projects. Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical direction to team members, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.
• Client Relations and Reporting: Prepare and review clear, concise, and detailed reports and documentation, offering expert opinions and conclusions. Maintain and develop strong relationships with clients and consultants, acting as the primary point of contact for all forensic mechanical matters.
• Expert Testimony: Serve as an expert witness, offering authoritative testimony in legal and regulatory settings where required.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required. A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in evaluating mechanical system and component failures within commercial or industrial settings.
• Licensing: Active Professional Engineering (PE) license required. Multi-state licensing is highly preferred.
• Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing teams or projects in a forensic or engineering setting.
• Expert Witness Experience: Proven experience providing expert witness testimony is a strong asset.
• Team Development: A collaborative leader with a desire to mentor and foster growth within a team of professionals.
