Job summary

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer - CDU to drive design of data center liquid cooling systems, focusing on Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) for U.S. deployment.

The role leads mechanical design, supplier coordination, and customer engagement across MHIA's Plano, TX and Ashburn, VA offices, ensuring scalable, reliable, and manufacturable solutions from concept through mass production and lifecycle support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum of twelve years of experience with at least seven years in mechanical system design and supplier-facing technical leadership for industrial or packaged equipment.
• Ability to read, review, and interpret technical specifications and drawings, including P&IDs, GA, and mechanical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for CDU mechanical design.
• Lead product design activities from concept to mass production.
• Act as a key technical interface with customers and suppliers.
• Coordinate technical alignment between customers and suppliers.
• Engage with Hyperscalers / GAFAM customers during reviews and RFIs/RFPs.
• Drive cost-down and value engineering without compromising performance.
