Leidos in Huntsville, AL seeks a Principal Material Project Manager to lead material strategy for the program, manage open purchase orders, resolve delays, and drive supplier accountability.
You will collaborate with the Manufacturing organization to review requisitions, manage procurement through order to payment, and participate in risk mitigation and program reviews; some travel may be required.
Description
Every program has a deadline. Behind every deadline is a purchase order that has to land on time. You make sure it does.
It’s Monday morning in Huntsville. A long-lead component is slipping, a supplier is quiet, and the program manager needs an answer before the next status review. The schedule is tight, the budget is watched, and the hardware has to ship.
You open the purchase order, pick up the phone, and get to work. By the end of the day, the delay has a recovery plan, the supplier has a commitment, and leadership has a clear picture of the decision ahead. The program moves because you made the material move.

The MPM reports to the Material Operations & Strategies Associate Director, is directly aligned to the Program Manager, and represents Material Operations & Strategies on customer programs. You are an extension of the corporate shared services for supply chain related support.
You’re also responsible for all activities associated with researching and recommending cost-effective purchase arrangements. You’ll work closely with the Manufacturing organization to review purchase requisions for clarity, compliance, detail, completeness, and regulatory compliance, and to obtain any additional information needed. You’ll also work with Manufacturing to actively manage the procurement process from order placement through receipt of products and subsequent payment of invoices. Some travel may be required.
We’re looking for someone who is energetic, resilient, and creative in supporting corporate reporting requirements throughout program manufacturing execution obligations. You’ll promote a team atmosphere and help cultivate improved communication lines with agile problem-solving solutions.
