Job summary

Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines seeks a Principal Developer to lead the application development team, designing and building Java-based enterprise solutions while mentoring peers and driving agile practices across initiatives.

You will collaborate with business partners, ensure quality through reviews, testing, and documentation, and leverage AI to improve efficiency and outcomes, delivering on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or a related field; 10+ years of experience or 12+ years equivalent work experience.
• Experience leading other developers on projects.

Responsibilities

• Works as a member of the application development team to deliver custom software for high-priority initiatives.
• Create well-written, efficient code in Java for various applications.
• Review other developers' code and provide constructive feedback.
• Support existing applications and respond to incidents and service requests.
• Mentor and support other developers in design and construction of software solutions.
• Act as technical Lead on application development initiatives.
• Work with business partners to ensure requirements and quality are met.
• Unit test software to ensure functionality and performance.
• Leverage AI to improve development efficiency and team productivity.
