Job summary

Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines seeks a Lead Developer to join the application development team. You will design and build Java-based solutions for high-priority initiatives, mentor peers, and drive best practices within an agile framework.

You’ll ensure quality through tests and collaboration with business partners. You’ll lead multiple initiatives, understand product lines, and push for efficient, well-documented software while aligning with internal controls and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or relevant field with 7+ years’ experience, or 10+ years equivalent work experience.
• Experience developing software using Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, Angular, Bootstrap, Typescript, Node.
• Experience with Java 8 or beyond and open source frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, JUnit).
• Deep understanding of object-oriented design, architecture, TDD, and SDLC.
• Experience with automated testing, build, and integration techniques.
• Leading development projects with CI/CD and release management.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, and waterfall methodologies.
• Experience with data-driven design, APIs, integrations.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Gitlab.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across levels.
• Financial services industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create well-written, efficient code in Java for various applications.
• Review other developers’ code and provide constructive feedback.
• Mentor and support other developers in design and construction of software solutions.
• Act as technical Lead on application development initiatives.
• Work with business partners to ensure requirements and quality are met.
• Unit test completed software to ensure functionality and performance.
• Leverage AI to improve development efficiency and solution quality.
