Leidos Inc in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Principal Java Developer to join our Intel Security Analysis Solutions team. You will contribute to agile development and O&M for mission-critical systems, across the full software lifecycle.

Design and implement high-performance backend microservices with Java/Spring, participate in architecture, code reviews, testing with JUnit/Katalon, and deploy in a cloud-based platform. A TS/SCI with polygraph is required.

Job Summary

A Java developer on this program provides Agile development and operations and maintenance for mission critical systems. The role participates in major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain high-performance, scalable backend microservices using Java and the Spring Framework to meet customer needs.
• Participate in software programming initiatives, shape backend architecture, mentor team members, and conduct code reviews.
• Develop and direct software system validation and testing methods using Junit and Katalon, and employ integrated custom solutions for automated deployment.
• Develop, prototype and deploy solutions within a cloud-based platform leveraging platform services.
• Analyze proof of concept, performance, and end‑to‑end testing and coordinate infrastructure needs to meet customer mission needs.
• Support the Agile software development lifecycle following SAFe practices while coordinating with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure User Story alignment and implementation.
• Document and perform systems software development, including deployment of build artifacts across environments using GitFlow, GitHub, Jenkins, and scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
• Apply and identify software development best practices and standard operating procedures to create innovative solutions that meet technical customer needs.

Basic Qualifications

• In‐depth experience with Agile practices, service‑oriented environments, and development practices.
• In‐depth experience with Java, the Spring Framework, microservices architecture, design patterns, RESTful APIs, and integration with relational and NoSQL databases.
• In‐depth experience integrating with and delivering within DevOps toolsets and practices.
• Direct experience using performance testing tools such as Junit and scripting languages such as Python and Bash in an Agile environment.
• In‐depth experience developing on commercial cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and leveraging cloud data services (S3, RDS, EFS).
• In‐depth experience using version control systems and issue tracking systems.
• Bachelor’s degree with 12 or more years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 10 or more years of experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience writing software that interfaces with data technologies such as Elasticsearch, Postgres, DynamoDB, Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, AWS Lambda, and AWS S3.
• Experience with SAFe development practices.

Pay Range

$131,300.00 - $237,350.00
