Job summary

Palo Alto Networks seeks a Principal IT Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytical solutions across Finance and Legal teams. You will leverage SQL, SAP/SFDC objects, and cloud services to enable BI dashboards and insights.

Strong focus on AI/GenAI integration and data governance is expected. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor juniors, and drive innovative data engineering practices using cloud-native platforms.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree and experience in Finance, Operations and/or Legal domains.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience building and maintaining data pipelines and analytical solutions.
• Expertise in SQL programming and database management systems.
• Hands-on with SAP Data Objects and SFDC Data Objects.
• Hands-on with ETL tools and technologies such as Apache Spark and Apache Airflow.
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and services like Dataflow, DataProc, BigQuery, Cloud Composer.
• Experience with AI Tools and understanding of AI in development lifecycle is mandatory.
• GenAI readiness to enhance data engineering lifecycle is a nice-to-have.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into data warehouses or lakes.
• Identify and implement GenAI-driven improvements for data pipelines and quality processes.
• Collaborate with Finance and Legal stakeholders to capture requirements and translate into technical solutions.
• Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement data quality and governance to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Work with BI teams to build dashboards, reports, and analytical tools for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices.
• Drive new processes to boost engineer productivity.
• Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, AI-first architectures) for future readiness.
