We are looking for a visionary, adaptable, and results-oriented Principal IT Architect for our US Electric Domain within our Architecture team. This position can be located in Brooklyn, NY, Waltham, MA, Hicksville, NY, or Syracuse, NY (candidates may also reside in Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). Job Purpose

The Principal Architect will lead the creation of architectural work products (artefacts) and perform various analyses. These work products are crucial for communicating within the IT community and may include designs, blueprints, global principles, standards, patterns, or Notices of Decision that influence technology strategy.

What you'll do

As a Principal IT Domain Architect, you will shape the architecture of our technology solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and strategies. You will lead the design and implementation of complex solutions, driving innovation and excellence. Your responsibilities include:

  • Align IT strategies with business objectives, identify capability gaps, and recommend technologies to meet strategic goals.
  • Provide technical leadership in designing complex, enterprise-scale systems and solutions, ensuring compliance with regulations and strategic needs.
  • Define roadmaps from current to future states, including migration and transition plans.
  • Design scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
  • Create solution visions and high-level architecture addressing business requirements.
  • Develop integration patterns for efficient data delivery.
  • Ensure security, scalability, and flexibility are integral from the start.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of business applications within the electric domain.
  • Provide SME insights related to electric domain applications.
  • Establish and enforce architecture principles, standards, and guidelines.
  • Conduct architecture reviews to ensure best practices adherence.
  • Key Deliverables
  • Solution vision, architecture diagrams, and documentation.
  • Current and target state architectural definitions aligned with scope, value streams, and data flows.
  • Technology roadmaps illustrating transition states.
  • Application rationalization roadmap.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

* Understanding of architecting, designing, building, testing, operating, and maintaining complex global systems.

* Ability to see the big picture and short-term perspectives.

* Leadership experience managing diverse teams across cultures and time zones.

* Extensive experience leading large-scale projects and emerging architectures like APIs, IoT, Digital Transformation.

* Deep understanding of business processes such as manufacturing, customer service, logistics, finance, and procurement.

* Expertise in SDLC and design patterns.

* Knowledge of performance, security, availability, operations, monitoring, and support.

* Risk identification and communication skills.

* Up-to-date knowledge of industry technologies and trends.

* Familiarity with regulatory standards like Sox, PCI, ITIL, RUP.

* Broad expertise in packaged applications and specific domains.

* Certifications or experience with TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF, DODAF, COBIT, ITIL are a plus.

* Influencing skills and result-oriented leadership.

* Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and PCI controls.

* Strong consulting, mentoring, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years designing enterprise-scale systems.
  • 7+ years of hands-on technology development/implementation.
  • Strong skills in vendor product selection, software analysis, business analytics, REST interfaces, modern technologies like Containers and Microservices.
  • Experience with architectural frameworks like TOGAF and tools such as Troux, Alfabet, Sparx.
  • Experience supporting Agile and digital product lifecycles.
  • Experience with custom and COTS solutions.
  • Utility-related technology experience (asset management, geospatial, control systems) is a plus.

Salary

Downstate NY: $179,000 - $210,000/year

Massachusetts: $167,000 - $196,000/year

Upstate NY: $149,000 - $175,000/year

Salary depends on experience and location.
