Job summary

Unisys is seeking a Solution Architect to support managed services clients across enterprise infrastructure engagements, from pre-sales scoping to project delivery. You will design and deliver technical solutions across virtualization, servers, storage, databases, networks, and cloud/on-prem environments, partnering with delivery teams to ensure standards and successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise virtualization, including VMware/vSphere, server hardware, SAN, and related infrastructure.
• Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows Server administration.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including firewalls, load balancers, VLANs, and routing concepts.
• Basic understanding of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience developing automation to streamline technical processes.
• Exposure to AI workflows in infrastructure operations.
• Proven ability to work independently on scoped technical projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication with executive presence.

• Identify opportunities to apply automation and AI workflows to improve efficiency.
• Work across cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure, including VMware/vSphere, Oracle and SQL databases.
• Advise delivery teams on managed services best practices for high-quality outcomes.

What success looks like in this role: The Solution Architect supports managed services clients across enterprise infrastructure engagements, including pre-sales technical scoping, solution design, and project delivery. The role partners with delivery teams to apply managed services best practices, align solutions to established standards, and help customers plan for emerging technologies and strategic initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a trusted customer advisor, using executive presence to build credibility and trust
• Support pre- and post-sales technical scoping and contribute ROM estimates for infrastructure, software platform, and user migration engagements
• Design and deliver technical solutions across virtualization, server, storage, database, network, and other enterprise platforms
• Own assigned projects from design through delivery, communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Serve as the execution owner for initiatives such as datacenter migrations, disaster recovery, and cloud migrations
• Set realistic, achievable client expectations for project scope, timelines, sequencing, and priorities
• Collaborate with project resources and subject matter experts to define task breakdowns, hour estimates, and planning inputs
• Proactively monitor project resources and follow up to keep work on track
• Adapt to projects of varying scale and complexity, from single-server builds to large, multi-phase engagements
• Operate effectively in a fluid, rapidly evolving client environment
• Provide project management structure and support to keep engagements on track
• Help maintain internal solution architecture standards, runbooks, and documentation
• Provide technical escalation support to other teams as needed
• Work across cloud-based and on-premises enterprise infrastructure, including VMware/vSphere, physical servers, Oracle and SQL databases, RHEL/Linux, Windows Server, and related technologies
• Identify opportunities to apply automation and AI workflows that improve efficiency and operational outcomes
• Support customer technology planning conversations, including emerging technologies and strategic initiatives
• Advise account delivery teams on managed services best practices to promote consistent, high-quality outcomes

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Deep knowledge of enterprise virtualization, including VMware/vSphere, server hardware, SAN, and related infrastructure
• Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows Server administration
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including firewalls, load balancers, VLANs, and routing concepts
• Basic understanding of enterprise database platforms, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience developing automation to streamline technical processes
• Exposure to AI workflows and their application to infrastructure operations
• Proven ability to work independently on scoped technical projects
• Strong critical thinking skills in ambiguous or undocumented environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with executive presence for technical and non-technical audiences
• Commitment to best practices that support team continuity and knowledge sharing
