Job summary

Alliance Clinical Network seeks an Internal Medicine / Family Medicine physician with clinical research experience to help build a new Santa Fe / Albuquerque site from the ground up. As Principal Investigator, you’ll provide medical leadership while engaging the community and growing the research portfolio.

This role offers a balanced schedule, meaningful clinical involvement, and a supportive team; you’ll work with study sponsors, CROs, IRBs, and a dedicated operations staff to deliver

Qualifications

• MD or DO with internal medicine/family medicine or specialty background.
• Prior clinical research experience as PI or sub-investigator required.
• Familiarity with ICH-GCP and FDA clinical research regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight for assigned clinical trials.
• Protect the safety, rights, and well-being of research participants.
• Review participant eligibility and medical screening outcomes.
• Review adverse events and safety trends.
• Perform or oversee study-specific medical assessments and histories.
• Provide clinical guidance to Sub-Investigators and study staff.
• Collaborate with sponsors, CROs, IRBs, and Alliance leadership.
• Participate in site initiation, monitoring, and close-out activities.
• Review laboratory results, ECGs, vitals, and other assessments.
• Support safety reporting and medical documentation.

What You'll Do

As Principal Investigator, you will provide medical oversight and clinical leadership for assigned clinical trials, with patient safety and data quality at the center of your work.

• Serve as the study physician and provide medical oversight for assigned clinical trials.
• Protect the safety, rights, and well-being of research participants throughout the study.
• Review and confirm participant eligibility and provide medical oversight of screening outcomes.
• Review adverse events (AEs), serious adverse events (SAEs), and participant safety trends.
• Perform or oversee study-specific medical assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, concomitant medications, and endpoint assessments.
• Provide clinical guidance and medical oversight to Sub-Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, RNs, and other site staff.
• Serve as a clinical resource for study-related medical questions and safety concerns.
• Collaborate with study sponsors, CROs, IRBs, and Alliance leadership throughout the life of each trial.
• Participate in Site Initiation Visits, monitoring visits, close-out activities, and other study meetings as needed.
• Review clinical data including laboratory results, ECGs, vital signs, and other study-specific assessments.
• Support timely safety reporting, medical documentation, and resolution of clinical data queries.
• Maintain compliance with study protocols, site SOPs, ICH-GCP, FDA regulations, and applicable Florida requirements.
• Contribute to a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and patient-centered research.

What We're Looking For

Requirements

• MD or DO with a background in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or a Specialist
• Prior clinical research experience in a Principal Investigator, Sub-Investigator, or other clinical research physician capacity is required
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to participant safety
• Interest in clinical research and advancing medical innovation
• Comfort reviewing structured clinical data and study-specific medical information
• Strong communication, documentation, and confidentiality practices
• Familiarity with ICH-GCP and FDA clinical research regulations
• Board certification
• DEA registration, if required by applicable study protocols
