Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking a Principal Integration Engineer to lead design, governance, and operational support of enterprise integrations across Workday HCM, Finance, and related systems. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field required; eight or more years of experience in enterprise system integrations or interface architecture required
• Experience supporting Workday integrations strongly preferred
• Advanced expertise in Workday integration tools including Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Web Services
• Strong experience with APIs (REST/SOAP), XML, XSLT, SFTP, middleware platforms, and data transformation logic
• Ability to troubleshoot complex integration failures and performance issues
• Expert knowledge of Workday business process configuration and optimization
• Understanding of the Workday data model and reporting frameworks
• Proven ability to lead technical teams, define standards, and drive architectural decisions
• Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills
• Ability to translate business strategy into technical roadmaps
• Strong communication skills for both executive and technical audiences
• Experience managing vendor and third-party integrations

This role leads the technical architecture for inbound and outbound interfaces, ensures data integrity across systems, and partners with functional and technical teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable integrations. The Principal Integration Engineer establishes standards, oversees middleware and interface design, and ensures alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance frameworks.

About The Opportunity
