Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks an Industrial / Principal Industrial Engineer - Affordability Engineer to develop affordability roadmaps, optimize manufacturing layouts, and lead cost-control initiatives. You will use FlexSim/AnyLogic to model capacity, lead cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement toward program targets.

The role requires DoD-level security clearance and citizenship, with relocation support as needed.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with ability to obtain interim Secret and final Secret clearance
• Experience in strategic affordability planning, workflow/layout optimization, and cost-control/reduction studies
• Proficiency with manufacturing simulation/capacity-planning tools (FlexSim, AnyLogic, Primavera/P6)
• Ability to prepare high-quality technical reports and brief senior leadership

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic affordability roadmaps aligning labor, facilities, equipment, and tooling with program cost targets and goals
• Design and optimize manufacturing workflows, material flow, and equipment layouts for plant efficiency
• Conduct rapid manufacturing simulations and what-if analyses to forecast capacity, schedule, and costs
• Lead cost-control, cost-reduction, and inventory-management studies
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and production staff
• Coordinate safety measures and training programs for affordable production
• Prepare reports and briefings for leadership and partners
• Collaborate with facilities engineers to integrate layouts into facility planning
• Drive Lean/Six Sigma driven continuous-improvement initiatives
