Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks an Industrial Engineer to join its Roy, UT site. You'll build schedules, track hardware deliveries, and maintain metrics for leadership.

You will develop SQDEC boards and analyze capacity, shop floor flows, and labor standards for new scopes. You'll conduct time studies, support equipment layout design, and collaborate with multiple teams to meet scheduling requirements and program milestones.

Qualifications

• BS is required; 2 years with BS, 0 years with Masters.
• Preferred degrees include Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, or related field.
• U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Secret clearance.
• Experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, or proposal estimating in aerospace/defense.
• Strong Excel modeling, presentation, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Track hardware deliveries and maintain detailed schedules and metrics for leadership.
• Develop and maintain SQDEC (Schedule, Quality, Delivery, Employee, Cost) boards daily.
• Understand capacity, efficiencies, standards and constraints.
• Know manufacturing flows and how shop floor interfaces with supply chain and quality.
• Create standard hour content for new scope; perform shop floor time studies.
• Coordinate with teams across sites to define scheduling requirements.
• Create detailed manufacturing waterfall schedules with setbacks to independent demands.
• Utilize value stream mapping and other process improvements.
• Design and optimize shop floor/facility layouts.
• Understand cost management and earned value concepts.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Industrial Engineer

This position will be located in Roy, UT.

What You'll Get to Do:

• Strong foundation in Industrial Engineering fundamentals (Production Intervals, Cycle Time, Takt Time, Standard Hour Content, Time Studies, EVMS, Continuous Improvement, Scheduling, Capacity Analysis, Facility Layouts)
• Responsible for tracking hardware deliveries and maintaining detailed schedules and metrics to report status to upper leadership
• Develop and maintain SQDEC (Schedule, Quality, Delivery, Employee, Cost) Boards with various metrics on a daily basis.
• Understand principles of capacity (efficiencies, standards, constraints, etc.)
• Knowledge of manufacturing flows and how they interface with shop floor and Global Supply Chain
• Understand labor standard development and work measurement. Create standard hour content for new scope.
• Perform shop floor time studies on manufacturing and test activities.
• Work with functional team to understand scheduling requirements at implementation sites
• Ability to create detailed manufacturing waterfall schedules with setbacks to independent demands
• Utilize process improvement methodology (e.g., value stream mapping, employee engagement techniques, flow reduction, etc.)
• Design and optimize Shop Floor/Facility Layouts
• Understand principals of cost management (Earned Value, Milestone payments)
• Engage and collaborate with various product teams and functional organizations (from individual contributors to executive staff) to obtain, understand, and interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements
• Document, track and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution
• Utilize your strong organizational, planning and decision-making skills and the ability to work as a team member and with other members from different technical backgrounds
• Ability to coordinate with larger teams at different site locations
• Create and present technical briefings for upper management and technical leadership

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80.

The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications

• Education Requirement: 2 Years with BS; 0 Years with Masters.
• Preferred Degrees: Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Research, Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
• Must be U.S. Citizen with active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Interim) security clearance.
• Experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, production planning, or proposal estimating in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing.
• Experience developing bases of estimate, labor estimates, staffing plans, capacity models, or proposal inputs.
• Strong Excel modeling, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing flow, production scheduling, capacity, and how shop floor execution interfaces with supply chain and quality.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Aerospace
