Job summary

Optum Technology seeks a Principal Software Engineer for the Identity and Profile team to own governance for enterprise identity and profile systems and to drive AI/ML integrations across consumer platforms.

You will lead architecture and delivery for scalable, secure identity resolution and profile management, partnering with Product, UX, Data Science, and Security to craft privacy-safe experiences at scale.

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience.
2+ years in identity resolution and profile management systems.
Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale digital products.
Experience with AI/ML integration patterns and responsible AI usage.

Responsibilities

Lead governance processes for an enterprise-scale identity and profile management system.
Own engineering execution and architecture for identity resolution, profile management, and consumer engagement platforms.
Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and AI/ML integrations (personalization pipelines, semantic search, RAG, conversational assistants).
Establish engineering standards and AI practices, including model evaluation, prompt governance, guardrails, and CI/CD.
Deliver core consumer engagement capabilities including identity onboarding, notification/messaging orchestration, self-service flows, and analytics instrumentation.
Partner cross-functionally with Product, UX, Marketing, Data Science, and Security to translate customer insights into privacy-safe experiences.
Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline software engineering workflows and drive continuous improvement.
Own production readiness, operational health, SLAs/SLOs, threat modeling, and secure SDLC across all managed microservices.
