Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, FL seeks a Principal Human Factors Engineer to join a team ensuring aircraft hardware and software are operable by US military crews. Strong Systems Engineering background and collaboration with Integrated Product Teams are essential.

The role includes conducting OITL assessments, contributing to usability and workload analyses, and authoring DoD-compliant documents. A Top Secret clearance and 5+ years in HF are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in a Human Factors related field; or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience; or a PhD and 1 year of experience.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1472, Human Factor survey development, test procedure development/execution, and/or test report writing.
  • Active, In-Scope SECRET DoD and able to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance (Interim required to start).

Responsibilities

  • Support evaluation of requirements adhering to Human Factors best practices and MIL-STD-1472 sections.
  • Contribute to Human Factors Analyses (Task Analyses, Predictive Workload Analyses, Usability studies, Workload and Situation Awareness surveys).
  • Plan and conduct Operator in the Loop (OITL) assessments to evaluate the design; analyze test data and generate a final test report.
  • Support requirement verification test activities: Display Readability, Lighting Evaluations, Anthropometric Accommodation, CAS Evaluations, MRT, Maintenance Demonstrations, etc.
  • Conduct computer based (NX) and empirical accessibility assessments from operator and maintainer perspectives.
  • Author/support program documentation in DoD Data Item Description format (HEDAD, HEPP, HSIPP, HETP/R, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Design IPTs to ensure design meets Human Interface requirements and support Airworthiness analysis.
