POSITION SUMMARY

The Principal Healthcare Supply Chain Specialist will oversee work on large projects related to capital and supply products and will lead Sourcing projects, which will include coordinating calls with ECRI analysts, engineers, and clients; reviewing vendor RFP responses; and making purchase decision recommendations based on technical specifications, quoted pricing, and proposed service and support options. The Specialist will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving comparative capital and supply reports to ensure technical accuracy and proper clinical focus before they are sent to clients. In addition, the Specialist will work with Team Managers to develop new reports and service offerings, will support the Sales team by performing demos and providing sales pitch and selling strategies, and will attend and present at trade shows and conferences. The Principal Healthcare Supply Chain Specialist is a subject matter expert who will assist in all aspects of developing the Global Supply Chain Solutions team to represent ECRI’s mission-driven values and continue to meet the ever-evolving needs of ECRI’s member organizations.

Essential Functions:

Analyzes medical technology price quotations for capital, supply, and services from a financial perspective and provides hospitals with information and resources to facilitate price negotiations with vendors.

Analyzes utilization trends cross department and/or facility to reveal opportunities for utilization optimization that may result in cost savings and/or reduced waste.

Analyzes market alternatives and market share data to reveal potential opportunities for standardization/market shifts or to mitigate disruptions with technologies or supplies.

Identifies purchase, lease/rental, and service contract pricing benchmarks using ECRI’s internal database applications.

Assists ECRI member facilities with capital inventory, planning, and budgeting

Routinely surveys client requests and feedback to identify trends, deficits, etc. Proactively encourages the use of services to clients in correlation with other requests when opportunities present themselves. Collects specific client feedback whenever possible.

Reviews/edits/approves comparative capital and supply reports before they are sent to clients. Works with individual analysts as needed to ensure technical accuracy and proper clinical focus in all reports

Oversees and coordinates work on large projects related to capital and supply products. Provides input and assistance on projects and reports involving multiple technologies

Leads Sourcing projects and coordinates calls with ECRI analysts, engineers, and clients. Reviews and analyzes vendor RFP responses and makes vendor/product purchase recommendations based on technical specifications, quoted pricing, and proposed service and support options

Works with Team Managers to develop new reports, as well as new service offerings to help the team keep evolving in meeting client needs

Educates new analysts and APAC team on capital and supply databases, the ECRI Website, and department and organization protocols

Assists during the interview, selection, and training process when new personnel are hired

Serves as liaison for development efforts related to GSCS, with regard specifically to development initiatives, testing, and issue resolution

Supports sales team using web conferencing to perform demos and provide additional sales pitch and selling strategies to help reps close sales

Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors; hosts technology demonstrations and webinars on updated and new products

Attends and presents at trade shows and conferences relevant to their subject matter expertise to promotes ECRI as a thought leader in the healthcare arena to help drive ECRI’s continued growth and expansion

Provides subject matter expertise within capital, supply, and services to be able to provide guidance throughout ECRI

Ability to work well with colleagues across departments in the organization

Demonstrates exceptional customer service, written communication, and presentation skills

Establish and maintain excellent relationships with clients by routinely keeping them informed of project status and developments

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Five years' experience in a healthcare IT analysis, IT procurement, or related field desirable, with clinical experience.Knowledge of database management, data integration, and data analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT systems and software applications, electronic health records (EHR), clinical workflows, and terminology in the healthcare industry.
  • Ability to conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in healthcare IT procurement and with healthcare IT systems and related devices and software.
  • Ability to Identify, evaluate, and select vendors for healthcare IT solutions. Conduct thorough assessments of vendor capabilities and offerings.
  • Patient care experience and clinical certifications (preferred but not required).Ability to translate clinical requirements into technical specifications.
  • Ability to express self effectively and concisely both orally and in writing and to quickly grasp the operating principles of previously unfamiliar technology.
  • Should be able to independently, reliably, and effectively manage changing priorities for multiple simultaneous tasks.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Information Systems, Clinical Informatics, or related fieldpreferred.Clinical background (e.g., nursing, medical technology) preferred to understand clinical workflows and challenges.

Computer Skills:

Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Certifications and Licenses:

PMP (Project Management Professional) or certifications in clinical informatics or business applications (preferred butnot required)

POSITION COMPENSATION

The salary range for new employees in this position is $70,252.97 - $79,737.12, based on background, experience, and skills. In addition, new employees in this position are eligible for all of our benefit offerings, including, but not limited to, health and welfare benefits, 403(B) retirement savings, and paid time off (PTO).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position operates in a remote environment and requires the individual to remain in a stationary position, whether sitting or standing, before a desk or other fixed workspace, most of their workday. In addition, this position requires the individual to occasionally move about their workspace to access and inspect work-related materials, such as file cabinets with physical files and standard office equipment. This position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including, but not limited to, a laptop, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and phone, as well as effectively communicate information and ideas to a wide variety of audiences in written and oral form.
