Atom Computing is a Boulder, Colorado-based quantum computing company seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to lead high-speed mixed-signal hardware for our control systems. The role involves architecture, design, and hands-on build of PCBAs and hardware, collaborating with quantum engineers for system needs, and driving design-for-manufacturing with external partners.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of postgraduate professional experience in board-level analog and digital circuit design.
• Experience with Altium Designer and PCB layout.
• Familiar with high speed mixed-signal design and RF front end concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design high level system architectures for instruments and hardware for control systems.
• Lead architecture and deployment of custom electronic assemblies for quantum computer control systems.
• Own DFMs and collaborate with contract manufacturers to scale production.
• Mentor teammates in hardware design and maintain rigorous design documentation.
• Engage with FPGA/processor teams, firmware, and software for integrated bring-up and testing.
