Job summary

Blue Canyon Technologies, RTX's small satellite manufacturer, seeks a Principal GN&C Engineer to own GN&C subsystems across multiple missions. On-site in Boulder, CO, the role requires driving advanced GN&C capabilities and leading a team through development and on-orbit operations.

Applicants should have a strong background in GN&C, MATLAB/Simulink, C/Ruby programming, MB Design, and extensive spacecraft experience. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering or related field, plus 13+ years related experience.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for integration and testing.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on projects involving large engineering teams.
  • Experience with developing and running 6-DOF simulation environments.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft GN&C testing practices and MB/auto-coding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, test, and deploy GN&C subsystems for small spacecraft from CubeSat to ESPA-class.
  • Lead development of GN&C technologies to support customer needs and company goals.
  • Lead a team on GN&C product lines, RD efforts, and ADCS improvements.
  • Help improve GN&C system architectures for various product lines.
  • Lead the evolution of GN&C processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Mentor younger engineers and potentially manage personnel.
  • Participate in all mission phases including design reviews, software/hardware tests, and on-orbit operations.

Position Purpose:

Principal GN&C Engineer will havefull GN&C subsystem responsibility for multiplespacemissions,includingall program phases from new business development through on-orbit operations. A Principal GN&C Engineer will lead development of new andimprovedcapabilities,features,andinfrastructureoftheGN&Csubsystem,occasionallyleadinga team of engineers.

Pay Range: $170,000 - $230,000

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

On-site position at our Boulder, CO location (work locations are subject to change based on business need).

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • KnowledgeofsystemsintegrationandtestingexperiencewithMATLAB/Simulink
  • The ability torapidlyworkwithminimalsupervisiononprojectsinvolvingbothsmallandlarge engineering teams.
  • Experiencewithdevelopingandrunning6-DOFsimulationenvironments.
  • Mustbeabletoworkinahighlycollaborative,fast-pacedenvironmentwithemphasisonrapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities.
  • Experiencewithconfigurationmanagementandissuetrackingtools
  • CapabilitytoindependentlydevelopnewGN&Ctechnology
  • ComprehensiveknowledgeofspacecraftGN&C,rangingfromorbitalmechanics,spacecraft sensors and actuators, and attitude dynamics and controls
  • KnowledgeofspacecraftGN&Ctestingbestpractices
  • Experience with C and Ruby languages
  • Experience with Model Based Design and auto-coding process.
  • Key industry-level expertise in autonomous vehicles GN&C
  • Experience with simulator/hardware test development and execution, as well as mission operations is a plus
  • Previous experience with orbital vehicles, especially small satellite GN&C
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education
Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
