EVONA in Rockville, Maryland, seeks a Principal GNC Engineer to own spacecraft GNC architectures from concept to flight. You will lead design, models, verification, and flight software while mentoring teams across spacecraft programs.

The role requires extensive hands-on GNC experience, ownership of ACS architectures, and strong MATLAB/Simulink skills, with on-site work in the US.

Own the architecture of next-generation spacecraft GNC systems.

EVONA is recruiting for a Principal GNC Engineer with a rapidly scaling NewSpace business developing mission-configurable spacecraft for multiple mission profiles.

Backed by $380M+ in funding, including an $80M Series A and a recent $300M PIPE deal, the company is investing heavily in new spacecraft development.

This is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity for an engineer who has designed, developed and delivered spacecraft GNC systems and wants to take ownership of new architectures from concept through flight.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the design and development of spacecraft GNC and attitude control architectures.
• Own control laws, attitude determination algorithms, state estimation and system performance.
• Define GNC requirements, subsystem interfaces and verification strategies.
• Develop and oversee high-fidelity dynamics simulations and 6DOF models.
• Guide GNC flight software implementation, SIL/HIL testing and system integration.
• Lead technical trade studies across spacecraft sensors, actuators and control approaches.
• Work across systems, avionics, propulsion and flight software engineering.
• Mentor GNC engineers and provide technical direction across multiple spacecraft programs.
• Support launch, commissioning and on-orbit operations.

What we're looking for

• Extensive hands‑on spacecraft GNC or attitude control engineering experience.
• Proven ownership of spacecraft ACS/GNC architectures and algorithm development.
• Strong expertise in attitude dynamics, control laws, estimation and spacecraft modelling.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, 6DOF simulations and embedded flight software.
• Experience delivering spacecraft GNC systems through integration, verification and flight.
• Strong technical leadership and cross‑functional engineering experience.
• Spacecraft flight heritage strongly preferred, including launch and on‑orbit operations.
• RPO, autonomous operations or cislunar mission experience is advantageous but not essential.
