Job summary

USA Triathlon Foundation is seeking a Principal Gift Officer to build and lead a major-gift program from the ground up. You will manage 40–50 high-capacity prospects, craft seven-figure asks, and collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to shape strategy and donor visits.

This is a fully remote role with ~40% travel nationwide and a strong preference for candidates in major donor hubs. You will help advance the Elevate28 campaign and drive transformational philanthropy for triathlon.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success securing philanthropic commitments in the $1M–$5M+ range.
• Experience building a major-gift portfolio in a developing program.
• Strong ability to cultivate ultra-high-net-worth individuals and foundations.
• Proven track record partnering directly with a Chief Development Officer or equivalent.
• Comfort operating as a remote employee with proactive communication.
• Willingness to travel regionally and nationally for donor engagement.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 40–50 principal-gift prospects with seven-figure potential.
• Lead development of $1M–$5M+ proposals and gift structures.
• Collaborate closely with the CDO on solicitation strategy and donor visits.
• Coordinate with frontline team to ensure a unified donor pathway and no duplicated outreach.
• Support travel and donor engagement across markets.
